Good Cheer from Snowy Seattle!

Merry Christmas! Well, sort of. We decided to celebrate our own Christmas yesterday, as we are pretty much snowed in and church was canceled. We haven't been able to leave our apartment, except on foot, for several days now. I must say, we are quite enjoying it! (Although we're really hoping we can still make our flight and get to Utah for Christmas with Jacob's family!) It has been fun to look out our window and see people sledding down our street (it's closed) using everything from plastic garbage bags, to sea kayaks, and air mattresses - we just aren't used to White Christmas' here in Seattle, and even though the conditions are rough, most people are making the most of it! We also feel really grateful that we've been working on beefing up our food storage because we have felt peace and comfort knowing if worse came to worse, we'd eat warm food and stay warm for over a month!

Sawyer got a visit from Santa Claus.

Oh, was he ever over-stimulated by naptime! He really enjoyed what Santa left for him, as well as the present we gave him: old-fashioned, wonderfully-designed wooden blocks. He giggles when we knock them over (when he's not trying to eat them, of course!)

Talk about a wide-eyed child on Christmas morning!

Since church was canceled, it was a really relaxing, slow, wonderful day spent together (Jacob is usually in meetings and at church for about 8 hours on Sunday). We played with Sawyer and his new toys.

Then, we bundled up and went outside to play in the snow!

We brought Frosty to life, and tried to help Sawyer make his first snow angel (the snow was falling and melting on his face - he didn't like the snow-angel making part very much.)

We have to say, it was a Christmas to remember!

May you all be safe and warm and get to your Christmas destinations safely! We are keeping our fingers crossed that we'll be seeing some of you tomorrow in Salt Lake City!!!

Merry Christmas!!!

Family Photos 2008

During our visit in Oregon I thought I'd take advantage of the pretty yellow fields and ask my little sis to snap a few (Thanks Jamie!) So, here we are on Thanksgiving day: I am so grateful to be blessed with such a wonderful husband and son! SO BLESSED!!!

Sawyer in the big boy backpack

Sawyer has been working hard to hold his head up. He's doing so well that on Saturday we decided to try out the big boy back pack (Tysha was soooooo excited)! Here the little guy is looking back at me with those giant saucer eyes that can so easily melt the heart of any father.

There's Tysha looking wonderful and Sawyer looking awestruck at the new ability to see so many things while hiking at Discovery Park.

Who doesn't love autumn leaves? Especially when they crunch, crunch under your feet.

There they are my beautiful wife and my handsome son. Sigh. What a great afternoon.

Explore // The Oregon Coast

We went on our first vacation as a family to the Oregon Coast. We had an absolutely marvelous time! Here are the highlights of our trip:

Cannon Beach

Tillamook

The 3 Capes Scenic Loop

South Beach

Oregon Coast Aquarium

Hiking to Drift Creek Falls

Beautiful Sunsets

The Devil's Punchbowl

Beverly Beach

Yaquina Head Lighthouse

Nye Beach

Who needs Hawaii when we have beautiful beaches within a half a days drive? (Don't get me wrong, we also love Hawaii!) We had some wonderful evenings out and enjoyed dining at Tidal Raves in Depoe Bay, Cafe Mundo in Newport - complete with a live blues band, and Andaman Thai in Lincoln City. Those are our Top 3 Recommendations should any of you readers visit the Oregon Coast. Yum Yum. Good food always seems to go with good times!
